New Delhi, July 17, 2025 – Bharti Airtel, one of India’s biggest telecom companies, has joined hands with Perplexity AI to give its 360 million customers a free 12-month Perplexity Pro subscription. This deal started today, and it’s the first time Perplexity, an AI-powered search tool, has worked with an Indian telecom company.
The subscription, which usually costs around Rs. 17,000, will be available to all Airtel users, including those with mobile, Wi-Fi, and DTH services. People can get it by logging into the Airtel Thanks App. Gopal Vittal, who is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, said this partnership will bring powerful AI tools to millions. He believes it will help users navigate the digital world and keep up with new AI trends.
Perplexity AI is different from regular search engines because it gives answers in simple language with sources to check. Its Pro version lets users try different AI models and even create images. This move comes as India is seeing more interest in AI, with tools that support local languages becoming popular. A recent survey by EY shows that only 36% of Indian companies have started investing in AI, so this could open doors for more people to use it.Vittal has a history of changing how Airtel works, especially with marketing, and this step might make Airtel a leader in bringing AI to everyday users.
