Prashant Kishor Demands Bharat Ratna for Bihar’s First CM Shri Krishna Singh

Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are set to take place between October and November this year. In the run-up to the elections, different parties in Bihar are criticizing each other and making various statements to attract their voters.

Meanwhile, Jan Suraaj party chief Prashant Kishor has demanded that Bihar’s first Chief Minister, Shri Krishna Singh, be honored with India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna.

Prashant Kishor’s statement is being viewed as politically motivated. Experts believe that his demand is aimed at attracting votes from Bihar’s upper-caste communities. It is speculated that Kishor wants to bring Bhumihar and other upper-caste votes in favor of Jan Suraaj.

On Tuesday, during an event at the birthplace of Shri Krishna Singh in Sheikhpura, Kishor reiterated his demand for awarding Bharat Ratna to Singh.

During his speech, Prashant Kishor said, “Considering what Shri Babu has done for Bihar, he truly deserves the Bharat Ratna. Bihar was once among the best-administered states.”

Additionally, the Jan Suraaj chief stated, “Bihar’s condition has been continuously deteriorating, and it has now fallen to the lowest rank. The Jan Suraaj party is committed to restoring the glory of ‘Shri Babu’s’ era.”

For context, Shri Krishna Singh was the first Chief Minister of Bihar, also known as “Shri Babu.” He led the state from post-independence until 1961. Under his leadership, Bihar was among the top 10 most developed states in India.
