This case has sparked discussions because domestic violence in India is generally perceived as violence against women. The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, was enacted to safeguard women, but the law does not recognize men as victims.
Many people on social media have reacted to this incident. Some users questioned where men should seek help in cases of domestic violence, while others emphasized that laws should be equal for everyone.
Looking at domestic violence statistics, it has been a serious issue in India. According to a 2013 BBC report, 309,546 crimes were recorded against women in India, out of which 118,866 cases were related to domestic violence. However, domestic violence against men often goes unnoticed because societal perceptions and the legal framework do not take it seriously.
