Recently, Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwari revealed a shocking incident during an interview with The Lallantop, discussing what happened to players while he was playing for India and his state team.

In the interview with The Lallantop, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwari claimed that he was abused by Gautam Gambhir during a Ranji Trophy match. He stated in the interview that Gambhir abused him, targeting his mother and sister, and even threatened him.

Gautam Gambhir is the current head coach of the Indian cricket team. At one time, he was a teammate of Manoj Tiwari at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Gautam Gambhir abused my mother and sister: Manoj Tiwari

Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwari has alleged that Gautam Gambhir, the current head coach of the Indian cricket team, abused him during a Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Bengal at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (then Feroz Shah Kotla).

When I got out, I was preparing to bat, but my helmet was loose. So, I walked slowly to the field and told our extra player that a helmet chin strap was lying there. I asked him to bring it to the field while I reached. Gautam Gambhir thought I was wasting time,” Tiwari explained

He further stated that Gambhir began abusing him after the incident

“When he was constantly abusing, I remember Sourav Ganguly had just joined CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal). He was speaking rubbish about him too. He said things like, ‘Woh apna jack laga ke aa gaya. Tu bhi uske peeche aa gaya? Tu bhi yeh sab karke pohuch gaya.’ (He used his sources to reach where he is, and you too followed him? You’re up to such shenanigans too).”

When I told Dada, he said, ‘theek hai’ (It’s fine). My duty was to convey it to him. You can see that Gambhir has anger issues. After that day, there’s no scope for us to talk or meet.

Manoj Tiwari also revealed that Gautam Gambhir threatened to beat him after the match and questioned how anyone could give such abuses to someone’s mother.

I have never heard anybody give such abuses. If anybody abuses your mother, you should not take it lying down. I am not someone who can handle abuses quietly. I asked him, ‘Gauti bhai, why are you talking like this?’ Then the over ended, and I lost my cool. He said, ‘Meet me in the evening, I will thrash you.’ I replied, ‘Why evening? Let’s do it now.’ The match was in Delhi. No player has ever spoken to me in that way. All the media persons present heard every word that came out of his mouth

Umpires were afraid of Gambhir’s influence: Manoj Tiwari

Manoj Tiwari also stated during the interview that the umpires did not take any action against Gambhir, as they were afraid of his influence.

The umpire came in between, and he pushed him away too. Then the over ended, and I was at the non-striker’s end. He came to mid-off and started abusing me again. Umpires can’t do much. He is a big player, and they are afraid that he can use his influence against them,” Manoj Tiwari said.
