London, July 15, 2025 – The Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams met King Charles III today at Clarence House in London. This old building, where the king lives since 2003, sits next to St James’s Palace and was made in the 1820s for the future King William IV. The meeting happened because Buckingham Palace is being fixed up right now.

The players, including some from the current Test series with England and the women’s team that won a 3-2 T20I series, took group pictures and talked with the king. King Charles even asked about pacer Akash Deep’s sister, who has cancer. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said the king knew some personal stuff, which made it nice.

Before seeing the king, the teams also chatted with actor Idris Elba, who said he doesn’t watch cricket much but liked meeting them. The event shows how big cricket is, with lots of people watching games worldwide. It also points to the good connection between India and the UK through sports. Next, the women’s team will play ODIs in Southampton starting Wednesday.
